There is a common theme I find with successful people in life. They do not look for a quick path.

Occasionally you will have the anomaly but it is quite uncommon.

Success in health and fitness is no different. There is no “get skinny quick” plan that actually works. There is no “easy workout plan”. And there is definitely no “easy to follow diet plan”.

Working out is hard and it demands you give 100% if you want results. To think otherwise would be similar to thinking you want to have a great marriage but give 25% of yourself to the relationship.

When it comes to exercise you need to work. You need to leave that workout feeling like you did something. If you feel like you still have more to give then give it.

As for nutrition please do not fool yourself. It is one of the hardest things you will ever do. The more weight you have to lose the harder it is. Any plan, program or package that tells you otherwise is deceiving you.

Building healthy eating habits takes a lifetime. It is reprogramming your thinking and your taste buds. It is like playing soccer your entire life and switching to basketball. It won’t come quickly and it won’t happen in 5 days. If you want to develop a new skill it will take years.

Here is the thing, once you develop the skill the weight loss will come. The passion for fitness will come. All the things that you hoped would happen will happen. But it is like you wake up one morning 10-15 years into the journey and wonder how you made it. Asking yourself, “how did I get here?”

The good news is that it takes time and work. If it were quick and easy then there would be zero accomplishment in the effort. If you struggle with self confidence this can be one of the best ways to build it. You will feel accomplished every single day you succeed.

Take it one day at a time but always keep the long term perspective. On days you struggle remember that there are people who succeeded in this area whose circumstances were much more difficult than yours. You can do it too.
