This is a BIG mistake.

Weight loss is not all that hard when you think about it. Eat less and lose weight. Right?

Wrong.

If it were that easy then we would not have an obesity crisis.

The truth of the matter is weight loss is a very simple yet complicated matter.

I had a conversation last week with a client that I will share with you this morning because I feel it expands on one of the worst things you can do to lose weight – starve yourself.

The person I spoke with shared how they would eat very little and workout daily sometimes twice per day. This led to weight loss but along with that it led to feeling dizzy and light headed. They shared how it did more harm than good to their body.

We must keep in mind that our bodies run on fuel in the form of calories which come from three sources: fat, carbohydrate and protein.

All three are important and none should be eliminated from your diet. The amounts of each and sources they come from matters but that is not what this email is about.

The truth is your body uses up energy everyday and we know this as burning calories. Therefore we eat calories to give our bodies the fuel it needs to live another day.

The conversation I had last week that led me to write this email speaks specifically to our bodies need for adequate amounts of fuel…better known as calories.

When someone is trying to lose weight they think that eating less is the solution and for a period of time this works. But long term this is the biggest mistake a person could make.

I won’t dive into the details as to why this is such a big mistake on this email but I have three questions for you if you are trying the starvation method for weight loss.

  1. Is it working?
  2. Are you where you want to be?
  3. Are you happy with your body?

Look for one of my 10 minute pep talk podcasts in the coming weeks where I will expand on this topic. I will share why this is not good for you and why it does not work long term.

For now do your body a favor and eat the adequate amount of food to meet the physical demands you are giving it each day. If you are not sure what that amount is reach out to me and I will tell you.

Remember that you are not alone. I am here to help.
