There is something that we need to accept about working out and eating healthy in order to make long term progress in our fitness journey.
It never ends.
You will never reach a point that allows you to stop. Truth is you will continue to reach new peaks that will demand more of you. But the struggles you face at these new destinations are not like the struggles early on.

I remember when I started my fitness journey 20 years ago. I cut out soft drinks and attempted a 2 mile run. These were giant first steps for me.

I was a soft drink addict. I drank about 5-6 cokes per day. Giving those up was a big deal for me.

At 242 pounds and very out of shape running 2 miles was really hard for me. I didn’t know for sure if this would help me lose weight but I kept at it.

Overcoming these struggles early on led me to some success. I lost 40 pounds in the next three months!

But it didn’t end there. The next three years was filled with ups and downs. All leading to new challenges. Each challenge led me to having to dig deeper into myself.

This has been the over riding theme of the past 20 years. I have learned to accept this narrative. It is actually what makes this fitness journey so stinking fun! You never conquer it. You always learn something new about yourself.

When you embrace this you will reach a new peak in your fitness journey. Spoiler alert that is when you start all over again.
