When you hear the word “exercise” what is the first thought that comes to your mind? The answer to this question will give you insight into the relationship you have with working out.
If the first thing that comes to your mind is positive then you likely enjoy exercise. If the first thing that comes to your mind is negative thoughts then you probably dislike working out.
The type of workout you think of doesn’t matter. All that matters here is what kinds of thoughts enter your mind when the word is spoken.
Why does this matter?
Glad you asked 🙂 Your thoughts dictate your actions. If you think negatively about exercise then you will never enjoy it which means you will never embrace it.
On the contrary if you think positively about exercise then you will enjoy it and look forward to it which means you will continue to do it.
Thoughts are hard to control. Sometimes thoughts enter your mind that are random and make no sense. Some of these random thoughts if accepted as truth can negatively impact your life. Did you know that it is up to you to decide which thoughts you want to accept and which ones you want to discard?
This means you can actually rewrite the way you view exercise by CHOOSING to think positively about it. When we switch the way we think about something it makes all the difference in the world. We learn to become grateful that we have it or in this case grateful for the opportunity and ability to do it.
I realize that one email is not going to do this permanently for some of you. That is why I send an email to you each week planting a seed of positive thoughts about exercise. I also send out a weekly podcast later in the week to reinforce this perspective.
Don’t quit trying. I know some of you have so many negative thoughts going through your head each day about exercise, weight loss, nutrition, etc. Don’t let those thoughts rule your life.
