As I think back over all of the years I have been meeting with people to start a fitness program there is something that separates those who succeed from those who don’t.
The ones who jump in and start right away are by far the most successful. By “jump in” I mean they get started. Whether this be start the meal plan, show up to the first workout, sign up at the gym, hire the trainer, etc. Taking action wins this battle.
What battle? The battle between the person inside you that wants to stay exactly how you are and the one who wants a healthier upgraded version of you to come out. This is like a tug of war. There is a part of you that does not want to change. This is usually the more loud dominant person. This is the bully. The only way to quiet this person is to START.
Starting is the hardest part. There is so much to overcome like insecurities, laziness, lack of knowledge, motivation, self doubt and more. You must start if you want to win this fight.
I realize that it is not as easy as it sounds. Trust me I know because I have been exactly where you are. When I was 242 pounds and overweight I had no gym membership, no trainer and zero knowledge about exercise and nutrition. But that didn’t stop me. I started with an “attempt” at a 2 mile run. This changed my life.
Don’t keep putting off this decision. Today is June 12th and it feels like a great day for a fresh start. Start by setting a goal for this month. Next create a plan to accomplish it. Lastly, and most importantly, take action.
I’m always here if you need help.
